Privacy Policy

Our commitment

ScholarMind ("we", "us") is an AI-assisted study app built by UnityBridge Software. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the ScholarMind website and mobile apps, how we use it, which service providers process it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information: your name and email address. If you continue with Google or Apple, that provider shares basic account details (such as name and email) with us according to the permissions you approve.

Study materials you upload: notes, PDFs, slides, documents, text you paste, and screenshots or snips you capture, plus the titles, subjects and tags you give them.

Photos and audio: photos of handwritten notes you take or pick from your library, lecture recordings, audio files you upload, and voice answers you record for the Feynman Tutor or voice input. The app asks for camera, microphone or photo-library permission only when you use these features.

Content generated for you: summaries, flashcards, quiz questions, study plans, visual explanations, audio recaps and tutor conversations created from your materials.

Learning activity: quiz and game results, answers, streaks, XP and badges, daily usage minutes, focus goals and topic mastery.

Study Groups: groups you create or join, members you invite, materials you submit to a group, reviews, flags on questions, and reports or blocks you make.

Subscription information: your plan and subscription status. Payments are handled by Stripe (see section 6).

Messages to us: what you send through the contact form or by email.

Technical data: basic device, browser and log information needed to run and secure the service, and small amounts of data stored on your device (such as theme and study preferences).

2. How we use your information

• To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
• To turn your materials into study tools and track your progress.
• To run Study Groups: show your name, shared materials and leaderboard stats to members of groups you join.
• To send emails you asked for or that the service needs (group invitations, study reminders you enable, account and billing notices, replies to your messages).
• To manage your plan and apply the features it includes.
• To review reports, prevent abuse and keep the community safe.
• To fix problems and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party advertising.

4. Private vs. shared content

Private by default: your materials, generated study tools, quiz history, usage and goals are visible only to you (and to our administrators when needed to operate the service or handle a report).

Shared when you choose: when you submit a material to a Study Group, its content and questions become visible to that group's members. Group members can see your name, email, XP, level and streak in that group. You can leave a group, remove your submissions or delete your account at any time.

5. Study Groups, reports and blocking

You are only added to a group after you accept an invitation. You can report a group, a submission or a member, and block a member so you no longer see their content or receive their invites. Reports include the content you reported and are reviewed by our administrators.

6. Payments

Paid plans are purchased on the ScholarMind website and processed by Stripe. Card and billing details are handled by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. We receive your subscription status, plan and a customer reference so we can apply your plan.

7. Service providers

• Base44: app hosting, database, file storage, authentication, email delivery and access to AI integrations.
• AI model providers (reached through Base44): text generation, handwriting and document extraction, transcription, image and speech generation.
• Stripe: subscription payments.
• Google and Apple: sign-in, when you choose those options.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

8. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual materials at any time.

Deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account) cancels any active ScholarMind subscription and permanently removes your account and everything you own: materials and notes, generated questions, quiz attempts, XP and rewards, usage records, focus goals, Study Group submissions and memberships, groups you created (including their submissions and pending invites), invitations, and blocks you placed.

Reports you sent are kept without your name or email so moderation history stays intact. Reports and blocks placed on your account by others may be kept to protect the community. Stripe keeps its own payment records as required for tax and accounting.

Files you uploaded (documents, photos, audio) are removed from the app but a copy may remain on our file-storage provider at an unlisted address; AI tutor chat history may also remain in storage. To have those removed too, email support@day1sober.org.

No app? See how to delete your account by email. We complete email requests within 30 days. Administrator accounts cannot be deleted from inside the app; email us instead.

9. Your choices and rights

• Access, correct or download your information by contacting us.
• Delete materials, leave groups, block members, or delete your account at any time.
• Turn off study reminders and deny camera, microphone or photo permissions in your device settings.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights (for example under GDPR or US state privacy laws). Contact us to use them.

10. Children

ScholarMind is not intended for children under 13 and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use ScholarMind with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use encrypted connections and access controls to protect your data, but no online service can be guaranteed 100% secure.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will update the date above and tell you in the app about significant changes.
